Event: New Museum Street Festival NYC

by Ken Greene

ideas new cityWe're bringing our seeds, and a cool interactive seed sculpture activity, with us to the New Museum's Ideas City Street Festival on May 4th.

Many artists have helped to create our seed sculpture including Michael Asbill, Habitat for Artists, and students at SUNY New Paltz.

Here how it works: you make your own seed ball with clay, compost, and seeds and then press the ball into the sculpture.  The textures, forms, patterns, and shapes of the big sculpture will leave their creative impressions on your seed ball. You can then take your seed sculpture home to plant in your garden, toss into a vacant lot, or stick in a pot. The sculpture will then begin to dissolve, releasing the seeds and compost and growing. We'll have a selection of the right kinds of seeds for the sculptures at the festival along with our full line of Art Pack.

Come say hello and get seedy with us!

There's a ton of other amazingly creative and fun things to do at the street fest. Click on this map link: ideas city map to see what's going on and come spend the day!

We also need volunteers to help in the booth. Volunteers can make seed sculptures for free and receive a free Seed Library membership! If you can help out email Ken.
