Artwork by Jill Mayberg: www.jillmayberg.com About the Artist: "My mixed media paintings are inspired by everything I come across and love.
I especially adore animals, color, primitive, folk and outsider art, food- especially deserts.
I love the abstract expressionists, Dutch still lifes, the Renaissance artists , Medieval manuscripts, film images the intuitiveness and narative rich content of childrens drawing and painting.
I love going to small, regional
museums and seeing artists that I-ve never heard of.
The process consists of cutting out paper shapes, creating a paper sketch, gluing the paper to a substrate then painting, drawing and layering to create a textural dimensional image.
Working full time as an artist, my paintings have been exhibited in galleries,
and juried art festivals across the country.
I am the recipient of an Artist's Trust $7,500 fellowship and several other grants and will be the featured artist on Oregon Public Television's show Artbeat airing in April."
About the Art: To celebrate the cross-hemispheric seed stewardship that went into this tomato, folk artist Jill Mayberg included a simultaneous sun and moon. She used layers of paper shapes, painting, and drawing to help tell this seed's global story.
