Detailed Product Info

With a sweet squashy flavor and perfect texture, Golden Crookneck is a hallmark of summer gatherings, delicious grilled, sauteed, steamed, or raw--sunshine on a summer plate.

On the farm, a soft and mild yellow haze emerges as the sun returns: another summer dawn. Curled up among broad leafy roofs lie these tender crooknecks, the offspring of this season, the essence. It's hard to imagine a crop more perfectly at home on an August morning than this native of the American continent.

Growing Instructions

Direct sow after frost or start indoors under protection 3 weeks earlier and then transplant before plants get too big. Make 2-4 additional sowings at 1-month intervals for healthy plants all season. For highest quality, harvest at 3-4 inches in length. Regular harvesting keeps plants producing fruit.
