Storage carrots should be sown 10-12 weeks before first frost date, and harvested before the ground freezes.
Beets should be sown 9-11 weeks before first frost, and harvested before temperatures are consistently below freezing.
Watermelon and Daikon radishes should be sown about 8 weeks before first frost, and harvested before the ground freezes.
Turnips should be sown about 8 weeks before first frost and harvested before temperatures are consistently freezing.

Direct sow outdoors at indicated time for a fall crop.
Space seeds about 1 inch apart. Take care in the heat of summer to water seeds daily; do not allow to dry out. Cover radishes and turnips with row cover to protect from flea beetles.
