Best Fall Roots Set

Our favorite roots for fall eating and keeping! Each variety has different sowing needs, read on for more information.

These are our tried and true fall root varieties. This set includes (1) pack of Danvers Carrot, (1) pack of Detroit Dark Red Beet, (1) pack of Early Wonder Tall Top Beet, (1) pack of Minowase Daikon Radish, (1) pack of Purple Top White Globe Turnip, and (1) pack of Watermelon Radish.

Storage carrots should be sown 10-12 weeks before first frost date, and harvested before the ground freezes.



Beets should be sown 9-11 weeks before first frost, and harvested before temperatures are consistently below freezing.



Watermelon and Daikon radishes should be sown about 8 weeks before first frost, and harvested before the ground freezes.



Turnips should be sown about 8 weeks before first frost and harvested before temperatures are consistently freezing.

Direct sow outdoors at indicated time for a fall crop.
Space seeds about 1 inch apart. Take care in the heat of summer to water seeds daily; do not allow to dry out. Cover radishes and turnips with row cover to protect from flea beetles.
