Heirloom Japanese pumpkin with attractive, deeply ribbed, bumpy skin that cures from deep black- green to a warm orange buff color. Edible skin, and fine, nutty flavored flesh. Great roasted, fried in tempura, pureed in pies or soups, or pickled! 3-5 fruits per plant, averaging 3 lbs. each.

Growing Instructions

Direct sow after frost, or start indoors 2-3 weeks earlier. Transplant in hills 6' apart, three plants per hill, or in rows 36" apart. Can be trained to grow up a trellis. Harvest when squash are buff-colored with no trace of green. Cure in a warm spot for 2-3 weeks.
