Artist Application Guidelines
Pack Artists: Our general call for art is limited to US-based artists. To see examples of past selected artists and mediums, please look at our Art Packs and Fine Art Prints.
Mediums: All mediums are accepted except still life photography. We are always looking for a diversity of mediums including but not limited to watercolor, oil, collage, quilting, carving, assemblage, stained glass, etching, handmade paper, seed mosaic, plant material collage, wood-burning, metalwork, clothing, and functional pottery. Photographic images may be used if they are an element (less than 50%) of the work.
Submissions: Submit two images of pieces from your existing works that you feel best represent your style, and reflect the level of work that you would plan to produce for the commission. These do not need to be garden-related. We are looking at your work- originality, craftsmanship, composition, medium, consistency, not necessarily the subject. Selected artists are then asked to create a rough sketch proposals for each project before final approval and contract agreement.
Questions: Due to the number of submissions, we do not have time to respond individually to questions. Please do your best to follow our submission guidelines. If you have any technical issues with using the Submission Form (link below) please send an email to mail@hudsonvalleyseed.com. Semi-finalists will be contacted in mid-Spring. We do our best to notify all applicants of their status, however this process can take some time.
Commissioned artists receive: Commission payment, a percentage of sales featuring full image of your artwork payable once a year, 50% off seed purchases, inclusion in the Art of Seed gallery show, your name on the product link on hudsonvalleyseed.com, 'meet the artist' blog post and subscriber newsletter, seedy satisfaction, and green garden love.
**Please note: For Art Packs, finished work is not guaranteed to become an Art Pack. If an Art Pack is not possible for any reason, the artist will be compensated with a commission payment, and we'll stay in communication about if, when, and how the art will be used.
Thank you for offering your creativity to the Hudson Valley Seed Company!
