Silverado Chard

Beta vulgaris

Our favorite green chard.

We are in love with this chard! This compact cultivar of Swiss Chard has modest bone-white ribs and beautiful savoyed deep green leaves. The plants are extremely bolt resistant and hold up well for months. The same plants you pick from in the spring will keep going on into the fall. It withstands cold temperatures better than red chard. We were harvesting this chard through mid-December covered only with a single layer of row cover.
The stems are quite tasty and can be used like celery or cooked with the greens. We like chard as a spinach substitute especially in the summer months when spinach is tough to grow.
Shop with confidence: we are now shipping seeds labeled for 2025 planting.
This variety is suitable for growing as a microgreen. 🌱
