Not to be confused with the bergamot orange used to flavor Earl Grey tea, Monarda Fistulosa is an elegant perennial flower that's native to North America. Its slender branches grow up to 3' tall and put out frilly purple flower clusters, and underground it develops a system of rhizomes which it uses to come back year after year. Also known as bee balm, it's a fantastic pollinator attractor. Both leaves and flowers have a spicy oregano-like flavor and can be added to teas and used to treat colds.
