Klip Dagga
Leonotis nepetifolia
Certified Organic
Grown on Our Farm
Attract hummingbirds with this otherworldly plant.
A fast-growing tropical annual, Klip Dagga has a playfully strange, Seussian sort of beauty–and this playfulness is magnified by the swooping, darting hummingbirds that come to drink its nectar. Despite its origins, Klip Dagga is very adaptable: It thrives in a range of soils and conditions–even in containers–and reaches up to 10 feet tall! It's fuzzy, orange, tubular flowers emerge from round masses of pincushion-like bracts that appear intermittently along its ridged, green stems. All parts of this plant have been used in traditional medicines for the treatment of various ailments.

I planted a few seeds and did not know what to expect. Voila week after week it grew up and up like jack and the bean stalk. It placed right at our Victorian home stairs and a show stopper
This was one of the easiest flowers I've ever grown from seed-- and the reward was amazing! Hummingbirds were a little late to it, but when word got out, we saw them regularly. The largest plant reached our second story. Did require sturdy staking later in the season especially during the strong, early fall winds, so perhaps have that in the ground when seedlings are transplanted to outdoor site. A wonderful, low-maintenance conversation plant!
My Klip Daggas are starting to bloom, and they have grown very strong and healthy. Excited for the hummingbirds to come!

Nicely packaged. I’m not sure how they grow yet. Have my seeds germinated already, but love how the seeds are packaged.
