Painting Nature Journals with Caro Arévalo - July 12
Saturday July 12
1PM- 3PM
Join local artist Caro Arévalo for creative exploration of watercolor painting and custom hand-painted journals.
In this class, guests will get familiar with different watercolor techniques, learn the art of color mixing, and discover contemporary ways of using watercolors and gouache while awakening your creativity and artist within.
Drawing inspiration from the wildflowers on the farm, each guest will create a hand-painted cover for their journal. Each participant takes home their hand-painted journal; perfect for drawing, journaling, or capturing your memories.
Caro Arévalo is a Peruvian visual artist based in Woodstock, NY. Her artwork explores the plant and fungi kingdoms, both as seen with the naked eye and through microscopes; examining the taxonomy and physicality of living beings, as well as the invisible yet powerful spirit and consciousness each one of them carries. Caro’s creative process begins with doing research in nature, followed by capturing it under microscopes, and then developing paintings that express both the microscopic observations and field recordings.
From her Amazonian heritage, Caro embraces the interconnectedness of all beings, the
significance of rituals and ancestral wisdom in deepening our connection with nature and thus, our day to day lives. Through her paintings, classes and videos, Caro invites us to cultivate more love towards ourselves and our planet, staying creative, curious and aligned with our purpose in the world.
Caro has facilitated workshops at Anima Mundi Herbals, Mycelium Mysteries, Spirit Weavers and is a guest teacher at Wildflower Farms.
