If you have watermelon ripeness anxiety, Golden Mini is for you. Not only is this personal-sized melon the first to ripen, but it lets you know by turning golden yellow. Fruits are personal-sized, weighing in at 3-5 pounds each with sweet, salmon-colored flesh.
This variety is more commonly known as "Golden Midget Watermelon." Hudson Valley Seed Co. has replaced a portion of this name with a respectful alternative.

Direct sow 2 weeks after threat of frost has passed, or start indoors 1-2 weeks before last frost. Plant in full sun, and mulch in between the plants if possible. Watermelons enjoy hot temperatures and need only moderate water to set fruit. In fact, fruit are sweetest in dry seasons. Harvest when ripe to eat immediately, or when not quite ripe for storing up to 2 months.
