Zinnias are an easy to grow, bright garden flower. Start indoors 6 weeks before last frost or direct sow as soon as danger of frost has passed.
Zinnias will blossom well into the fall and make excellent cut flowers on their own or in a mixed bouquet. Prune blossoms every week to encourage more flowers and discourage disease. However, over-pruning can weaken the plant. Avoid handling or walking in plants when wet; doing so can spread soil borne disease. Dead-head spent blossoms.
