Farm Minute Video: Replanting Onions for Seed

by Ken Greene

Here's another one of Ken's Farm Minute videos giving you a peek into life on our seed farm.

Keepers! Onions are biennial.  To produce the highest quality  onion seeds for you to plant, we store the bulbs for the winter and then carefully sort them. We then replant
only the healthiest, biggest, and most storage hardy bulbs. We call these the keepers!

What do we do with the ones that aren't high enough quality to plant for seed? We eat them!

There are our Clear Dawn Onion- a sweet variety that stores really well.
