Mini Artist Residencies
We're doing it again!
Last year we partnered with Habitat for Artists to create an art studio right in the middle of the Philadelphia Flower Show. Eight different artists came over the 10 days to create seed and garden related work in the studio, interact with visitors to the flower show, and have their art reach thousands of people.
Mini Art Residency with the Hudson Valley Seed Library at the Philadelphia Flower Show
This year's Habitat for Artist's space is a working stop-motion animation studio. Artists can apply for a mini-residency of 4-8 hours and choose one or more of the following dates and times:
Saturday, February 28; 11:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday, March 1; 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Monday - Friday, March 2-6; 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Saturday, March 7; 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday, March 8; 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Proposal: Art must relate in some way to the creation of a collaborative stop-motion animation film about seeds. You don't need to know how to do animation, we can show you. Work on the film, create a set or character, make a painting or sculpture for other artists to use in the film. Or come and use the provided materials for adding to the film itself.
Email us to let us know what days/times you would like to come. Attach an image of your work and include a website if you have one.
Deadline to apply: January 31st
Artist's notified by February 6th
Compensation: The Hudson Valley Seed Library will pay admission to the Flower Show plus:
4 hour residency: $50 plus $50 gift certificate to seedlibrary.org
8 hour residency: $100 plus $100 gift certificate
All artists will be featured along with the final film on seedlibrary.org, and social media. Artists can also put out cards/ promotional info about themselves for folks to take.
It's not too late! Artists can still submit work for our Seed Shorts contest which will be broadcast at the show and online. http://www.seedlibrary.org/seedyshorts
