Midnight Garden Flower Mix
Various species
Conventionally Grown
Night-blooming beauties summon light and life—and exude fragrance.
Just as night owls thrive in the solitude of a midnight silence, evening pollinators do their best work in the dark—and some plants have evolved to attract them. White-colored blossoms that appear blinding under bright sun transform into delicate shimmery landing pads under the lunar light, when other colors disappear from the landscape. They emit intoxicating aromas, much stronger than those of day-blooming plants, another adaptation to stay noticeable in the veiled landscape of the overnight hours.
This mix of night-blooming annuals includes the following components:
- Candytuft (Iberis umbellata)
- White Four O'Clocks (Mirabilis jalapa)
- White Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus)
- Sweet Mignonette (Reseda odorata)
- Bishop's Flower (Ammi majus)
- Evening Scented Stock (Matthiola bicornis), and
- Sensation Mixed Nicotiana (Nicotiana alata).

This is my second year planting these. Last year, I grew them in a planter, but I ended up loving them so much I decided go put them in the garden in this year so they’d have more space to grow. Not only are they beautiful and low maintenance, they smell GREAT. If you’re someone who likes to spend time outside at home in the evening, these would be perfect for planting on or near your balcony, patio, or porch. They’re really meant to be enjoyed for their scent just as much as their appearance.
Wonderful selection of dye plant seeds- and the packaging artwork is lovely! I already see some babies coming up. I’m late but may get a little before frost!!
No germination.
I have not had the pleasure of enjoying the many seeds I ordered from Hudson Valley over the holidays, but if the flowers are as pretty as the packets the seeds come in, then my garden is going to be dynamite. I gave many varieties of your seeds as gifts and everyone loved the packaging. Keep 'em coming!
Great Success!
If I had know these seeds were doing to do so well in my yard, I would have planted more. I will know better for next year. My only issue was heavy rains knocked the tall flowers to the ground. I didn't actually count the seeds, but they are tiny. I wish I knew if they were annual or perennial. I couldn't find the information on the website an tossed the seed pack. Very pretty and the bees love them.
Not what's advertised.
My packet had a dozen four o'clock seeds, around 10 cosmos, and maybe 100 of the smaller seeds combined. Nowhere near the 500 seeds advertised, and no way it would cover 30 square feet. If you just advertise it as about 150 seeds, it would still be a nice mix and you wouldn't have disappointed customers.
