Calendula

Calendula officinalis

Conventionally Grown

Bursting with color and a delicate scent.

This is the strain of calendula used in herbal preparations. Its blooms are golden and profuse, and its scent when brushed in the garden or crumbled in the hand is lovely and clean and cool. This soothing herb has a delicate smell and can be used in herbal preparations for burns or skin irritations. Also known as "pot marigold," the bright, rounded, golden blooms, make it easy to see why.

Plant in a location where its beauty can be appreciated. Calendula will bloom all summer and will self sow its fascinatingly-shaped seeds.

My most successful plant in my first year with a community garden plot. The pollinators were plentiful and everybody benefited from these gorgeous blooms. I deadhead frequently and they just keep on blooming. This was taken beginning of September and they were planted in spring.

These were easy to direct sow and they’ve had really long blooms. I’ve been dead heading them. Photo is from August. I planted in spring.

Calendula sown in milk jugs in early spring turned out beautiful repeat flowering blooms when deadheaded. Collecting the flowers and leaves to make calendula oil!💚
