Rainbow Tatsoi
Brassica rapa
Certified Organic
Microgreens Suitable
Beautiful burnished Asian green for salads and stir fries.
This colorful and cold-hardy Asian Green has its roots in human error. Dan Brisebois, of the Tourne-Sol Cooperative Farm outside Montreal, discovered that a mislabeled seed variety had led to an accidental cross-pollination among his tatsoi. But discerning some beautiful traits in the off-types, he set about deliberately selecting for the colorful pink stems and purple foliage that had appeared.
Rainbow is a lovely, deep green tatsoi with vibrant splashes of purple, red, and pink. Mature heads develop to a rosette of sweet and mild leaves that can be used in salads and sautés. The plants develops a burnished purple hue when touched by frost.

Easy to grow and I started them late fall! The leaves are a beautiful dark purple color and I left them after they bolted. The flowers are beautiful yellow and the bees love them!!
I am in charge of the school garden and the beautiful hues of this easy to grow tatsoi have provided lovely fall interest. It also tastes great.
I purchased a package of Rainbow Tatsoi seeds from Hudson Valley Seed Company last year, and I grew them for the first time in a raised bed. The leaves were quite colorful in vibrant shades of green, purple, and red. They were tasty, too. I mixed them into salads.
Great germination rates, has grown MUCH faster than the regular tatsoi from Hudson Valley in my raised bed, which was germinated and then transplanted at the same time. (NY, Zone 7a.) It's been in the garden for about a month and I should be able to start harvesting soon. Actually, I'll have to start harvesting soon, just to keep the plants from overgrowing the others around them.
good germination and growth of plants. Like the flavor and texture of the plant.
