Native New Yorker Seed Set

This boxed seed set represents an assortment of five selections from our PollinateHV collaboration between the Hudson Valley Seed Company and The Understory, in support of threatened native pollinators. It brings together Boneset, Purplestem Aster, Great Blue Lobelia, Spotted Bee Balm, and Penstemon digitalis for a garden that carries nectar and bloom interest from midsummer into fall.

Boneset makes a sturdy statement with abundant creamy-white flower sprays, while Purplestem Aster adds airy purple and gold to late-season borders. Great Blue Lobelia offers a long summer-to-fall nectar source and is known to support at least three native Hudson Valley bumblebees with threatened or declining populations. Spotted Bee Balm stands apart with tiered, purple-tinged bracts and purple-spotted tubular flowers. Penstemon digitalis sends up tall stems of white tubular blooms, creating a midsummer focal point for specialized pollinators.
