Silverleaf Sunflower
Helianthus argophyllus
Certified Organic
Grown on Our Farm
Fantastic and dramatic flowers with highly contrasting silver foliage and golden blooms.
This stunning plant is native to the Texas Gulf Coast, which is better known for its petroleum than its silver and gold. But these blooms are worth their weight in any mineral resource: profuse golden flowers jut above a sea of silvery gray-green leaves on multi-faceted branches that spread far from the stem. The contrast between the blooms and the leaves is spectacular; it is hard to believe one plant can pair such striking tones together in such abundance. They are, as the artwork highlights, truly celestial.

Cant say enough about this amazing sunflower. I counted 43 heads on this flower.
I love these! The photo is November 1st, 2024. They've been blooming steadily since September. They are so beautiful. This is one seedling, it grew to ten feet tall, and at least 10 feet wide. The bees go crazy for it.
This is my fourth year growing these, they go until late November , produce lots to cut for bouquets, feed countless birds, and look spectacular in the winter when all dried up! Will never stop getting them - most of my seeds get eaten! :)
Probably the winner of the 2021 summer. These sunflowers are prolific, striking and beautiful. I’ve never had such a great response from neighbors asking me about what kind of sunflower it is. Definitely growing it again as long as we can.
I seeded these late in June for a late summer/fall crop of flowers. The silvery foliage is fabulous. I would recommend staking the plants and cutting frequently for flowers. The birds absolutely loved eating the seeds in the fall.
Gave these seed packets as a Christmas surprise to friends. They loved them!!!
Tucked a packet of sunflower seeds in my Christmas cards. Friends loved it!
