Strawberry Fields Gomphrena

Gomphrena haageana

Certified Organic

Grown on Our Farm

Red flowers that hold up well in a dried flower bouquet.

Grow the cutest little strawberry lookalikes! From early summer until the first hard frost, these berry-shaped, clover-like blossoms bring cheer to borders and cutting gardens. The vibrant, papery blooms add interest to container groupings. For flower beds, try a dense planting for the best effect. Drying Gomphrena is easy: simply snip the stems near the base of the plant and hang upside down in a dark, well-ventilated room. Easy to grow, drought tolerant, and irresistibly sweet!

Absolutely love this variety (which is very aptly named) ! I had good germination, and planted them out in the bed 6” apart (two rows 12” apart) and have harvested literally HUNDREDS of stems in the last 4 weeks from just 16 plants. Absolutely cut & come again. They seem to get bigger & bigger with more deep cuts. They were one of the first blooms for me, timing wise, as well. Adds a nice pop of color & texture in bouquets and seems to dry easily, too. On my must grow list from now on, and you don’t need to grow many plants to have serious abundance.

These were fairly easy to grow. They can take the summer heat. In my location extreme drought is king, so regular water was the only requirement.
