Solstice Broccoli
Brassica oleracea
Certified Organic
Microgreens Suitable
A delicious and prolific multi-season broccoli.
An early, reliably heading variety developed by the late, famed organic breeder Jonathan Spero of Lupine Knoll Farm. Plants in our trials have consistently produced tight, mild-flavored, sweet heads. Crowns are a bluish-green, with some purple tingeing, and are even better in the fall, harvested after the first frosts turn them solidly purple. It was selected as a "gap filler" for broccoli production, both for heads around the solstice and for early fall production. The stems reach quite a bit above the plant, making harvest a breeze. Excellent side shoot production after the main head is harvested.

Growing instructions

Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, then transplant into fertile soil just after frost date. Harvest inner head promptly. Harvest the outer shoots every 2 days to keep them producing and to prevent flowering. Sow again 14-16 weeks before first fall frost for a sweet, long-lasting late crop.
