Jubilee Gem Bachelor Buttons Seedlings
Certified Organic
Centaurea cyanus
Also known as Blue Cornflower.
Also known as ‘Blue Cornflower,’ and one of the few true blue flowers for home gardeners, Bachelor's Button brightens sunny borders with its prolific blooms and delicate foliage. The deeply serrated, royal blue florets form intricate, layered blossoms resembling faceted gemstones. Plants grow up to 3' tall and pair especially well with Calendula, Borage, and Coreopsis.
Cornflower blue has inspired poetry, the name of a Crayola crayon, and features as a floral motif on collectible Corning Ware. Also known as Knapweed, Blue-Bottle, Star Thistle, and Bachelor's Button. The plants are easy to grow and produce long lasting cut flowers. The petals are edible (with very mild flavor) and can be used to brighten salads and deserts.
Centaurea cyanus matures quickly. For non-stop blooms from spring until frost, sow a second batch of seeds in mid-summer.
