Sweet William Dianthus
Dianthus barbatus
Scented pinks for borders and cutting gardens.
The classic biennial cottage garden dianthus in shades of white, pink, magenta, and dark red. The fragrant clusters of blooms are long lasting and also make excellent cut flowers. Prefers rich soil, full sun, and–ideally–a bit of afternoon shade to stay cool. Blooms best in its second year, and is winter hardy up to zone 5.
