Best tasting beet
I feel people either love or hate beets, and where they sit on this fence probably has to do with the earthiness beets are known for. But I feel Cylindra might just change beet naysayers' minds. It has a hint of sweet, and the earthiness doesn't seem to be as pronounced as say a Detroit Red. It's possibly the only beet I'll eat raw while out in the garden. Once boiled, or roasted, the sweetness seems to punch up, and it's a nice addition to any beet salad. They were fairly easy to grow, and seemed to do well in a garden bed I have that's a bit high on phosphorus and potassium.
