Meet the dapper dandies of the dahlia world. The "Collarette" name perfectly describes their unique form: a distinctive inner ring of shorter, frilled petals that creates a jaunty, ruffled collar around the center. This seed mix provides a vibrant, multi-colored palette of burgundy, orange, pink, and cream, with the inner and outer petals often showing striking contrasts. These plants maintain a reasonably compact, bushy habit, growing two to three feet tall, making them ideal for bringing unapologetic good cheer to borders and large containers.
These are true garden performers, blooming in great abundance from mid-summer until the first frosts, offering a welcome burst of late-season color just as many other perennials are fading. Their open-faced flowers are also a valuable resource for beneficial pollinators. As cut flowers, they are outstanding, held high on long, stiff stems that are perfect for arranging. Since this is a seed-grown mix, you'll discover a wonderful variety; at the end of the season, you can dig and save the tubers from your favorite plants to ensure their return.

Growing instructions
Start indoors 4-6 weeks ahead of last frost. Sow about 1/4†deep and keep soil surface moderately moist until true leaves appear. Move outdoors to a full sun location after all threat of frost has past. Space plants about 8-12†apart.
To direct sow outdoors: Wait until soil temperatures have warmed and all threat of frost has passed. In a sunny location, bury seeds about 1/4†deep and press soil firmly before watering. Keep area moderately moist until true leaves appear and thin plants to 8-12†apart.
Mature Dandy Collarette Dahlia plants will produce tubers that you can save and store at the end of the growing season. In late fall, after the first killing frost, cut back spent plants a few inches above the soil line and dig up tubers, removing excess soil. Before storing, cure tubers in a warm, protected location for a few days. Store in vermiculite or peat moss in a cool, frost-free place (40-50 degrees is ideal) until the next planting season.

Didn't work for me. Compared to the Bishop's Children dahlia seeds, I had much fewer germinate and those that did produced much fewer flowers.
