Creeping Thyme Seedling
Certified Organic
Thymus serpyllum
A sprawling, flavorful ground cover.
Creeping Thyme checks all the boxes when it comes to great garden plants: beautiful, useful in the landscape, deliciously edible, and supportive of pollinators. A low-maintenance perennial ground cover with a fragrant scent, it is often used to cover spaces between pavers and stepping stones, where it forms dense mats and tolerates neglect and dry conditions. A tasty culinary herb, it can also be used in all the ways that regular thyme is: in stews, salad dressings, and on roasted vegetables. On top of all that, Creeping Thyme's diminutive pink flowers attract butterflies, honey bees, and wild bees. What more could you ask out of a plant?

Start thyme indoors 8 weeks before last frost by seeding clusters of 10-15 seeds together on top of the soil. Keep moist, but not wet. Transplant outdoors when seedlings are 3" high, spaced at least 6" apart. (Thyme does not mind some crowding.) Harvest the upper green growth and prune back flowering stalks to promote more green growth.
