Growing instructions
Sow your wildflower patch in early to mid-spring. Alternatively, sow in late fall, and the perennial seeds will establish enough to overwinter and come up the following spring.
Prepare the soil as you would for any bed. Clean out the weeds. Aerate with a garden fork if compact, then rake flat. Lift open the spout of your Seed Shaker and spread the seeds out evenly over an area no bigger than 100 square feet. Then press seeds into the soil by walking over the planted area (with flat-soled shoes!) or using a board to pat them down. If the soil is dry, water the seeds in. In fall, soils are usually moist enough without.
Continue watering in spring for a few weeks; again, fall sowings usually don't need it. Weed fastidiously until plants reach 12-18" in height. Be patient; the perennial blooms will get better every year!

Year # 2:
Gorgeous flowers of yellow, white, blue red, pink. Every day there are more blooms. Just now saw a fritillary butterfly on a coreopsis.
We dug up grass to make a test 10’ x 10’ bed. The bee friendly wildflower seeds germinated well and we weeded and watered until suddenly the wildflowers grew tall and blossomed in spite of our drought and heat here by the VT border. Bed needs some grass removed but you can see the colors. Lovely variety. Will purchase more for 2023. Hoping to transform our entire lawn.
I was very pleased with this wildflower shaker mix. I’m only on the first year of blooms, but 5 flowers on the list have bloomed this year and they look amazing! I love watching all the pollinators enjoying them.
I love the packaging on these seeds!
Looked like tiny wood shavings in a box and a good amount of them were in the box the Shaker was shipped in. I thought they were maybe part of the packing paper... also it was in the box... I don't know what the stuff in the box was but I didn't see any seeds when I shook the box out and it only lightly cover about a 3 foot area. Maybe the seeds were tiny? 🤷♀️ I don't know.
Hi Stephanie, What you are seeing is a product called Vermiculite. We include that in our seed shakers to help those seeds distribute properly (they are tiny) and to help hold moisture around the seeds once they have been sown. Feel free to reach out to our customer service team with any questions or concerns.
These seeds are the best waiting for blooms next yesr.
Worked well.
Beautiful seed packets! Can't wait to plant and watch them bloom.
The flowers attract pollinators well, but I'm not sure why this is in the native wildflowers section of the website. Many of the seeds in this shaker are for non-native flowers.
Hi Greg, thanks for reaching out. Each of our shaker box blends is a mix of native and non-native wildflower species. We are particular about not referring to our wildflower shaker box blends as Native seed blends for just this reason. We do offer a native-only mix on our website (called Northeast Native Mix), but that is not available as a shaker box at this time.
I have 2 boxes that I will spread in our yard after I mow in Spring. I'm hoping we'll see more butterflies.
Beautiful Mix of Blooms!
This was so easy to plant! I had planned to spread the seeds last fall and totally forgot. Finally, I got to it in early May. I love checking in everyday to see what’s new. Brightens my day every time and the pollinators love it!
