The first spring radishes mark the gateway to fresh eating. Though a few spring greens and herbs often precede them, the act of pulling the first fresh root out of the ground sends the heart aflutter. Bright, crisp, sweet, and colorful, this mix announces the beginning of fresh culinary delights. It also closes out the season in style, growing large and very sweet in the cool of autumn. Looking to try something new? Try roasting or steaming these pretty pearls and tossing in a simple vinaigrette.

Growing instructions
Direct sow as soon as soil can be worked, through mid-spring. Thin small radish seedlings to 2-4" apart. Keep watered, especially as the season warms up. Harvest radishes as soon as they are round. Store radishes without the top to keep roots firm. (Tops are enjoyable in a sauté or braising mix.) Plant in succession to have a steady crop. Sow in late summer for a spectacular fall crop.

    Radical radishes are such a blessing this fall! I have them in a low tunnel and harvest a few at a time for salads. I just reseeded and expect to have another batch before the real cold of winter sets in. They are crisp, mild and so colorful!
