Klip Dagga
Certified Organic
Leonotis nepetifolia
Attract hummingbirds with this otherworldly plant.
A fast-growing tropical annual, Klip Dagga has a playfully strange, Seussian sort of beauty–and this playfulness is magnified by the swooping, darting hummingbirds that come to drink its nectar. Despite its origins, Klip Dagga is very adaptable: It thrives in a range of soils and conditions–even in containers–and reaches up to 10 feet tall! It's fuzzy, orange, tubular flowers emerge from round masses of pincushion-like bracts that appear intermittently along its ridged, green stems. All parts of this plant have been used in traditional medicines for the treatment of various ailments.

Rituals and indigenous wisdom influence Peruvian artist Caro Arévalo’s work deeply. In this acrylic and gouache painting, she presents three ways of seeing Klip Dagga: with the naked eye, through a microscope, and through a spiritual consciousness. https://www.carolina-arevalo.com/
