Also known as a clematis-flowered columbine, these breathtaking blooms are many-layered with ombre, pink and white petals that are almost dahlia-like in appearance. Its sturdy, straight stems as well as its beauty make it a favorite of cut flower growers. Will flower in second year - 365 days to maturity. Perennial in zones 3-9.

Start indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Cold stratify for best results, and be patient, columbine can take 3 weeks to germinate. Transplant 18 inches apart when seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves and the threat of frost has passed. Columbines prefer rich soil and cool conditions. Keep watered, especially during dry periods. Perennial.
