Soil is often referred to as “the skin of the earth". Even though it’s relatively thin, it
supports agriculture, infrastructure, and all life on earth. Like our own skin, soil is a
living, breathing organ protecting the life-supporting organisms beneath it and
everything above. Sustainable, regenerative, and ecologically sound agriculture & land management is all about the soil!

In this hands-on workshop, we cover the basics. You’ll learn how healthy soil
supports plant life, stores carbon, boosts crop yields, and works with billions of tiny
microbes to keep ecosystems resilient. We’ll explore simple, practical ways to build
healthier soil at home and in your community, through crop rotation, mulching, cover cropping, and increasing plant and microbial diversity.

beneath your feet, you’ll leave with easy, real-world tools to grow healthier plants and help care for the planet from the ground up.

Fable and Sow Theatre Farm is a unique theatre lab, educational hub, and
permaculture farm located on lands historically stewarded by Munsee
Lenape, Mohican, and Schaghticoke tribes, currently known as New
Windsor, New York. Fable & Sow Theatre Farm is a limited liability
company owned and operated by husband and wife team, Amber and
Hampton Williams-Fluker. Our farm serves as a model for regenerative
agriculture and agroforestry farming, where ethical land stewardship is the
primary focus.
