Marigold Medley

Tagetes lucida, Tagetes patula

Conventionally Grown

Bring your garden to life with this mix of festive marigolds.

The bright orange and strong-scented Cempazuchitl, or marigold, was the Aztec symbol of death. Throughout Mexico, it is used to this day to decorate graves and altars in Dia de Los Muertos festivals. Anything but morbid, the garlands, crosses, and lined pathways made from thousands of marigold blooms celebrate life, while the papel picado paper banners hang overhead in festive rows. Look closely at the art on this pack and you can see the celebration of life and death that plays out in our gardens every year.

Contains Crackerjack, Petite Mix, Naughty Marietta, and Sparky French marigolds.

Growing instructions
Start seeds indoors 6 weeks before last frost date, then transplant outdoors to indicated spacing in the garden or in containers. This mix includes both French and Mexican marigolds, which vary in height, so transplant the shorter seedlings in front of the taller ones if necessary in your garden space. Marigolds require little care and attention; water if particularly hot and dry.

    Super happy and easy!

Wowza! These marigolds are so prolific and cheerful! The picture is a single plant it’s huge and the blooms are relentless (complementary).

I love all the varieties that came in the same package! Some are short and some are tall. Today is December 26th in Houston, and they are still beautiful. Thank you!

I had planted a different type of marigold earlier in the year, so imagine my surprise when I saw this beautiful, lush, fluffy marigold pop up in the middle of my flower bed! I love the medley of sizes and colors and excitedly await each and every new bloom. Our plants tend to grow later in the season up north, but there has been plenty of time to enjoy the growth. And the honey bees and hummingbirds seem to enjoy them just as much!

    Stellar Performer
These adorable, vibrant blooms are the strongest flower performer in my garden this year! All of the seeds germinated fast, withstood strong wind and a night of snow, and have valiantly fended off an aphid infestation better than any flower in my garden. They have been blooming for months with no sign of stopping. Ladybugs love them and their leaves smell spicy divine. Next year I'll grow even more. When fall comes and these flowers stop blooming, I will honestly cry. This was my first purchase with Hudson Valley Seed and I have become a fast fan.
